No person living has greater knowledge or experience of the covert German DVD than Michael Shrimpton. His discovery of its existence in 1998 nearly cost him his life, as they tried to assassinate him the following year with the banned chemical weapon saxitoxin. He survived, but was left with a lifelong blood disorder. Increasingly hysterical attacks on his reputation saw him imprisoned on a trumpery bomb hoax charge by a corrupt judge and forced to share a cell in the notorious Brixton Prison with the gay serial killer Stephen Port. Michael ran the West’s only successful penetration operation of the DVD, identifying the location of its HQ in Dachau, Bavaria. This led to a satellite being moved overhead, which caught President George H W Bush entering the building, the most important imagery since that of Soviet IRBMs on Cuba.
